The 31st National First Aid Competition in Gostivar – Youth in Service of Life (September 20, 2025)
On September 20, 2025, the 31st State First Aid Competition was held in Gostivar, where young people demonstrated their readiness, knowledge and skills in providing first aid in simulated injury scenarios.
It was a great honor and pleasure for the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Gostivar to host this very important event, which was held under the auspices of the Mayor of Gostivar, Mr. Valbon Limani, with a lofty goal – to highlight the importance of knowledge, skills and humanity.
10 teams from different cities participated in the competition, which had previously proven to be the best at the regional level. Nearly 350 volunteers, employees, judges from the municipal Red Cross organizations demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing first aid. Guests from the Bulgarian and Albanian Red Cross were also present.
At the end of the competition, a performance was held by the Territorial Fire Department and the Directorate for Protection and Rescue.
A team from the Emergency Medical Service with an ambulance was present throughout the event.
At the opening, the Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Sait Sait, emphasized that Gostivar today was the epicenter of humanity, solidarity and youth. First aid is not just a technique, but a culture and value that should be present in every home and school, and true strength is measured in the willingness to help.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Azir Aliu, emphasized that first aid is not a theory, but a skill that can make the difference between life and death, and that young people shoulder this responsibility with courage and energy.
The Mayor of Gostivar, Mr. Valbon Limani, emphasized that the Red Cross deserves special congratulations for its persistence in organizing these competitions, because providing first aid can mean more than what doctors can do at a critical moment.
The Chairman of the Municipal Organization of the Red Cross of Gostivar, Mr. Besnik Zeqiri, said that the competitions are not only a test of knowledge, but also a mission of vital importance, and that the real winners are all the participants who have gained knowledge that is worth more than any prize – knowledge to save a life.
